PALESTINIAN TERROR ATTACKS ON ISRAELI & ARAB LIBRARIES & ARCHIVES
by Librarians for Fairness Research Group

Librarians for Fairness is continuing to document these attacks, and we have added to this list as a result of Emails sent to us by librarians & other concerned individuals. In the past, before it was updated, we sent it to both Hasafran, the Listserv of the Association of Jewish Libraries and to IFLA, the International Federation of Library Associations. We intend to further disseminate it to librarian organizations. We note, that some members of the American Library Association and the Progressive Librarians Guild are quite hostile to Israel's very existence, and they are quite active in seeking to unfairly demonize it. If any visitors to our website know of additions we should make to this listing, please Email us at: Librariansforfairness@gmail.com

PALESTINIAN TERROR ATTACKS AGAINST ISRAELIS

1. March 6, 1969- Three terrorists planted explosives which injured 28 students in the library of Hebrew University. One former student, who is now a professional librarian, would vividly recall the attack in an Email sent to Librarians for Fairness in April of 2018: " I had been studying in a room directly across a courtyard from the library cafeteria and was walking in a corridor in the direction of the cafeteria when the bomb went off. I quickly returned to the room I had just left, moments before, only to found my chair and the books I
was using were covered with sharp pieces of glass from a window thathad been shattered by the force of the blast. It was indeed providential that I decided to get up when I did, otherwise I shudderto think about what could have been my fate."

2. March 7, 2002- A Palestinian terrorist used grenades and an assault rifle to
murder five Israeli high school students who were in a yeshiva's library in the community of Atzmona.

3. July 31, 2003- Hamas terrorists bombed the Frank Sinatra cafeteria of
Hebrew University, in Jerusalem, murdering librarian Dina Carter and eight
others. Fifty innocent people were injured in the attack. Dina Carter, a librarian and archivist at the Jewish National Library, on Mount Scopus,
had been at the Hebrew University that day to register for a course to improve her skills as a librarian.

4.June 18, 2006- Two Israelis were hospitalized when a rocket landed just steps from the Sderot PublicLibrary's entrance

5. July 21, 2006- Rockets fired by Hezbollah terrorists hit Haifa, and
wounded Israelis in the Russian-language bookstore. Windows were blown out
and blood stained the floor. Six people were wounded and a larger number
were treated for shock.

6. August 6, 2006- In the evening, a Hezbollah rocket hit the historical archive of al-Ittihad, a Haifa-based Arabic-language newspaper. "When I heard that our historical building was hit, I felt a lot of anger. This is
a place which contains real treasures...This is not just a house, but a place with history, which we all grew up in," said Dr. Ahmed Saad, the editor.

7. January 24, 2008- Two Palestinian terrorists entered the library of the
Mekor Haim Yeshiva, in Kfar Etzion, where seven of the school's staff
members were meeting. One staffer was stabbed, before an armed Israeli
entered, shot and killed the terrorists.

8. March 6, 2008- The Mercaz HaRav Massacre- The terrorist, Alaa Abu Dhein, entered the Jerusalem yeshiva,
carrying a box that concealed an AKM assault rifle and fired between 500 & 600 bulllets during the attack. He first opened fire on a group of Yashiatz Yeshiva High School students, as well as students from Mercaz HaRav Yeshiva, who were standing near its entrance murdering three of them. He then went into its library and murdered another five students, and wounded nine others ... three of them seriously.

8. March 12, 2014- During the evening Hamas launched 55 rockets against the Israeli community of Sderot. One of the rockets landed right next to the Sderot Public Library.

ONGOING- There is continuing destruction of the Temple Mount and the historical Judaic artifacts it contains, by the Palestinian-Moslem Waqf.

Palestinian terrorists have now largely destroyed Joseph's Tomb.

Since the Israeli withdrawal from Gaza in 2005, the thousands of rockets launched by Palestinian terrorists against Israeli civilian communities, have drastically curtailed the services and hours of the Sderot Public Library.

PALESTINIAN TERROR ATTACKS AGAINST OTHER PALESTINIANS

1. April 15, 2007- The library of the Palestinian Bible Society (operated
by a Baptist-affiliated organization) and three internet cafes in the same
building, were extensively damaged by a bomb planted by Palestinian Moslem
terrorists. The blast at the library even blew off the entrance doors.

2. October 7, 2007- The battered body of 31-year-old Rami Ayyad, director of the Gaza Strip's only Christian bookstore, the Teachers' Bookshop (itwas affiliated with the Palestinian Bible Society, see above) was
discovered. He had been kidnapped and murdered. He had been threatened and targeted a number of times by Palestinian Moslem terrorists, since the Israeli withdrawal from Gaza, in August of 2005.

3. February 15, 2008- Palestinian terrorists blew up and destroyed the YMCA Library, in the Gaza Strip. Fatah blamed Hamas for the destruction. At least a dozen terrorists were involved in the attack. Issa Saba, secretary
general of the YMCA, said all eight thousand books in the collection were destroyed.

AND THE PALESTINIAN LIBRARY THAT NEVER EXISTED

Funds from international sources were raised to create
"The Palestinian National Library," next to a mosque, in Gaza's al-Shati "refugee" camp. The library was never created. Instead, Hamas decided to use the empty five-story building as a battalion headquarters and terrorist training facility. Beneath it, Hamas constructed a tunnel which connected to the massive Hamas terror tunnel network.
